Let The Right One In

one of the more interesting vampire movies i've seen in years.

not exactly a horror story. more like part horror, part love story. of a 12 year old boy and a 12 year old (well, more like 12 for the past 200 years) vampire.

i like.

it's nice to know how a small budget movie can still tell a great story. maybe some local film directors can go watch this film and improve. dialects and cheap anti-govt shots can only go so far.

on 2nd of March...

- Citi reached USD1.20 a share;

- BOA, USD3.63;

- RBS? 29 pence;

- AIG posted USD62bio quarterly loss and asked his Ah Gong for another USD30bio (on top of the oledi ridiculous USD150bio ang bao lui);

- Iceland, an EU country, has an inflation rate of 18.6%. . .

- oh, and in Singapore, more than 10k workers are likely to be laid off during the first quarter of 2009. Usual average? 10,000 a year!

hopefully, one year later, we dun see this sort of nonsense.

do skin care companies employ english professors to name products?

"Epidermal Re-Texturizing Micro-Dermabrasion"

Yup... i'm staring at a bottle of fine sand-like thingy and that's what it's called.
.
.
.

"Epidermal Re-Texturizing Micro-Dermabrasion"

heck lah, why can't they just call it scrub? like in the old days?

you wanna be specific? ok, "facial scrub".

more specific? ok... "facial scrub. fine".

how much more does one require to describe these sand-like... scrub?

and people say lawyers write incomprehensible stuff.

Sheesh.

my godson is growing up nicely.

you know you...

you know you:

- are getting burn-out from work when you actually look forward to watching " CATS"... which is still 3 months away!

- need a life, when you start to accept that 12/15 hour workdays are normal.

- got too many dvds when you realized that the stuff you bought 6 months ago are still nicely wrapped.

- bought too many Early Learning Centre toys when the manager said, "Sorry, but we really have nothing new for you. REALLY!"

- have friends who think you look like shit when they start to recommend you Woffles Wu. (you know who you are!)

- start to actually feel like shit when Kiehl's staff insist on giving you samples of their "Anti-wrinkle cream." (wahlau, this one i also can't get over it!)

ps: i DUN look like shit, ok? i just look tired. i look really really tired.

& the worst book i bought this year... so far

yup... still the same book. & you know why?

coz i got to know, only 24 hours after purchase, that there will be a revised and expanded version to be released in March!

bugger.

oh well, with the current standing, who knows when this financial shit's gonna end. maybe i'll wait for the revised revised version.  :P

the best book i bought this year... so far

a very good read, if one wants to know what the f**k actually happened that caused the current financial shit.

got it in INSEAD, which was, till then, the last place i would think of to get a book.

but i'm glad i came across it.

"Dah Dah Dah Dah Dah...."

frankly speaking, i have no idea what me godson was talking about. but it's interesting to know that he was trying to speak to me.

which is nice.

a year ago, i wouldn't be able to carry him for more than 1min without all the crying and kicking.

hmm... maybe 2008 was not that bad a year after all.

ps: these days, he would go, "uh oh... uh oh... uh oh"
      guess it's more baby language for me to learn then.

a year older... but none the wiser.

'nuff said.
